Lisa’s Class Room 2-408
Sometimes people look bad on the outside, but are good on the inside. Loretta the cat thinks Lyle is a monster. She feels scared. It would be scary to see a crocodile on the street. One day, I saw an old guy on the street. It was weird because he waved at me and I screamed. Lyle tried flashing his “sweetest most toothsome smile” at Loretta to show how friendly he is. I don’t blame Loretta for being scared. When Lyle got stuck in the zoo and Signior Valenti got him out, I felt happy for Lyle because he was free.
In Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, by Bernard Waber, Mr. Grumps changes from the beginning to the end of the story. Mr. Gumps hates Lyle in the beginning. He hates Lyle because Lyle scares his cat. But Lyle saves him from burning in flames in the building. That is why Lyle is Mr. Grumps favorite crocodile. Loretta should not have been scared of Lyle. Maybe the old guy was nice, -who knows?
