Lisa’s Class Room 2-408
Have you ever seen someone odd? If you did, be friends with him/her, don’t be mean to them. In Odd Velvet, by Mary E. Whitcomb, everybody thinks Velvet is weird because she wore an old dress and brought a used brown paper bag for a lunchbox. Everybody was polite to Velvet, but they weren’t her friend. Although everyone was polite to her, no one was silly enough to pick her for partner play, or to walk home with her after school. Velvet brought in a milkweed pod for show and tell. “Luckily, the girls saved the day.” Everybody thought Velvet was weird. But on the last day of school, everybody changed. Velvet’s classmates brought in all sorts of Velvet-like stuff. Now they liked Velvet. Remember, if you see someone odd, be friends with them.
