Lisa’s Class Room 2-408
Have you ever had a best friend that was so special to you that you loved very much and you would not like to share them? In the book The Worst Best Friend, by Alexis O’Neill, it was Mike and Conrad, Conrad and Mike. One day, Victor comes along. Victor stole Conrad away from Mike. The reason why Victor did that was because Conrad liked Victor’s stuff. “You don’t like someone just for their stuff,” Victor bragged during recess. I don’t think that is right! The next day it was Conrad and Victor, Victor and Conrad. They walked together, ate together, played together. There was no room for Mike. Mike could not decide, “Was he sad? Was he mad?” What was he to do? “Hey! Who wants to play?” Mike called. With the kickball in his hand, Victor yelled, “ I’m captain of the red team. Who wants to win?” He took Mike’s friends, Mike’s best, best friend and called out captain first! “Well I’m captain of the blue team,” Mike yelled back. Mike picked a kid. Then Victor picked a BIG kid. Mike picked a kid. Then Victor a BIG, BIG kid. No one picked Conrad, back and forth the captains went. “Hey Victor,” whispered Conrad, “What about me?” “Look pal,” Victor blasted, “I want to win. Big kids WOW! They can POW the ball right of sight. You’re not BIG.” If someone steals your best friend and doesn’t ask first, it is not nice!
